Austin is a great place to live, work and visit! It’s ideally located at the junction of interstate 90 and U.S. 218, easily accessible from Interstate 35, with 7 entrances into the city. Austin is just 12 miles north of the Iowa border and 95 miles south of Minneapolis-St. Paul. The county seat of Mower, Austin was founded in 1858, and is now best-known as the home of the Hormel Foods Corporation, the only Fortune 500 company in MN located outside the metro area. The city has claimed the title of “SPAM®Town USA” in honor of one of the Hormel company’s renowned products. Plan on visiting the interactive SPAM museum during your stay. The community offers excellent lodging facilities, great dining opportunities, as well as shopping, sports and innumerable other amenities.
